Description

Rosemary herb, scientifically known as Rosmarinus officialis, is a perennial evergreen shrub that belongs to the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the Mediterranean region and is widely cultivated for its aromatic leaves, which are used as a culinary herb and for medicinal purposes. The plant grows up to 20-40cm in height and has a woody stem with needle-like leaves that are about 2-4cm long and 2-5mm wide. The leaves are dark green on the upper surface and grayish-green on the lower surface, with a strong, pungent aroma and a slightly bitter taste. Rosemary herb produces small, pale blue to white flowers that bloom in late spring or early summer. The flowers are arranged in clusters at the tips of the branches and are attractive to bees and other pollinators. The plant prefers well-drained soil and full sun exposure, and is drought-tolerant once established.
