Description

The Chickoo Tree, also known as Manilkara zapota, is a tropical evergreen tree that is native to Central America and Mexico. It is a medium-sized tree that can grow up to 20 meters tall, but the average height is between 1 to 2 meters. The tree has a dense, rounded crown with glossy, dark green leaves that are oval-shaped and leathery in texture. The Chickoo Tree produces small, fragrant flowers that are greenish-white in color and are followed by round or oval-shaped fruits that are about 10 cm in diameter. The fruit has a brown, rough skin that is easy to peel, revealing a sweet, juicy pulp that is creamy in texture. The pulp contains several black, shiny seeds that are edible but are usually discarded. The Chickoo Tree is a popular fruit tree in tropical regions and is grown for its delicious fruit. The fruit is rich in vitamins A and C, as well as minerals such as potassium, calcium.
